Kalinya: Specification with Intent

VICELLO's director, Victoria Pirrello recently visited the Winning Appliances showroom in Redfern, something of a favourite playground for us, to begin tapware selections for our inaugural VICELLO Build: Kalinya.

There is a tendency in residential projects to treat tapware as a finishing touch. Something decorative. In reality, these decisions influence far more than appearance.

Tapware impacts cabinetry depths, wall build-ups, service positioning, stone detailing and the way a space functions long after completion. Resolve it early, and the project moves with clarity. Leave it too late, and trades begin working around decisions that should have informed the design from the outset.

For Kalinya, the objective was cohesion.

Not repetition, but consistency across kitchen, laundry and bathrooms while still allowing each space to feel individually resolved.

Working with Rogerseller allowed the process to feel seamless. Their collections share a strong design language, making it easy to move between ranges without creating visual tension.

Victoria selected predominantly from the Eccentric range for its balanced proportions and refined detailing, layering in pieces from the Tonic collection where they felt more appropriate to the space.

From a technical perspective, working within one brand ecosystem simplifies specification considerably. Consistent finishes, reliable tolerances and clear documentation allow selections to be overlaid onto joinery drawings early and with precision, ensuring cabinetry, plumbing and services align well before first rough-in.

For Kalinya, brushed nickel was the natural choice.

It’s a finish Victoria returns to often for its restraint and longevity. In our experience, coloured metals only truly age well when executed at the very highest level. Brushed nickel offers sophistication and durability without feeling trend-driven.

The fact that Rogerseller is Australian made, and backed by a five-year warranty, reinforced the decision further. Beautifully considered products are one thing. Products built to endure are another.

And then there’s the tactile side of specification. Weight. Resistance. Movement.

The details interacted with daily, and often the ones that most quietly communicate quality over time.

At VICELLO, specification is never about selecting isolated statement pieces. It’s about building a collection of materials and fixtures that work together technically, visually and functionally, creating spaces that continue to feel considered long after completion.

For Kalinya, every selection is made with that intention.
